- Hideaki Jimbo, I've read on IMDB you worked on The Grudge 2 and Shutter, two horror international movies (the directors are Japanese but the cast is American) shot in Tokyo. Did you worked on others movies than these two, and particularly on what Japanese films?
- On Babel (Alejandro González Iñárritu) as a production coordinator, Map of the sounds of Tokyo (Isabel Coixet) as a first assistant director, Norwegian Wood (Tran Anh Hung) as a secound assistant director. Others are bunch of foreign documentaries and domestic films.
- Next movie of Tran Anh Hung ! What are your favourites movies, apart from those on which you worked?
- Every film means special to me. But I have to say Norwegian Wood (Tran Anh Hung) and Enter The Void (Gaspar Noe)
- Then, you've been the first assistant director of Enter the Void. Did you know Gaspar before working with him?
- Yes, of course. I`ve seen his all films before I joined the project.
- Can you tell us more about your work on Enter the Void?
- Working as a first assistant director with crazy genius guy, Gaspar Noe, is completely different than other film directors. As my duty who was in charge of the schedule and run the show had to deeply consider how to make this guy in mood for shooting every night. Things never go on the way we planed, but at the end the perfect image and choreography delivered from Gaspar.
- What were the challenges and difficulties to overcome?
- Understand and patience.
- Were you aware of working on a huge project particularly awaited by movie fans - without being a blockbuster for a large audience?
It`s always fun to challenge whether the project is a blockbuster film or art house film. Things are always different and never be the same.
- Did you go to Cannes for the 2009 premiere and what do you keep in memory?
- No. But I saw through the Cannes web. Gaspar was wearing the same usual clothes with the aged boots instead of wearing tuxedo.
- What are your current projects?
- I've just finished [Norwegian Wood] at middle of April 2010. I'm also involved in the all post production process.
Thanks to Hideaki Jimbo
