 22/03/2010 - GASPAR NOE WAS BACK IN TOKYO FOR ENTER THE VOID AND MET TSUKAMOTO
Back in Japan for the Festival du Film Français au Japon (Unifrance), Gaspar Noe was attending at the screening of Enter the Void in Roppongi Hills (Toho Cinema). Just before the screening, a large part of the team had gathered in front of the French Cinema Café, near the theater. Then, on time, Gaspar presented Enter the Void and, more particularly, his team.

The director Koji Wakamatsu (Quand l’embryon part braconner, 胎児が密猟する時, Taiji ga mitsuryosuru toki) was here and Gaspar Noe evoked him as his "idol".
There was no talks after the screening, Gaspar considering the length of Enter the Void, its "weird" ending and its free interpretation.  After the screening (to 3 am), a large part of the team and some viewers came to the Red Shoes bar (between Roppongi & Shibuya).

 19/03/2010 - SXSW & PARIS SCREENINGS : REACTIONS ABOUT ENTER THE VOID

Several reactions to the SXSW & the French avant-premiere (Paris) screenings of Enter the Void (from Twitter & various sources) :

- I loved Enter the Void but I don't think I'll have the will to watch it in full a second time. It's a druglike experience!
- Geek culture : First Person Soul
- Enter the Void was...ridiculously bad. I don't care if it looked good, it was terrible. Ugh. 2.5 hours of my life wasted.
- Lets just say Enter The Void, about a junkie's experiences after death haunting his sister wasn't nearly the laugh riot Macgruber was.
- Enter The Void completely raises the cinematic bar. Insane.
- Three words: ENTER THE VOID... This film just blew my mind!
- Enter the Void. Whew. Gonna take awhile to process that...

- Enter the Void. More like enter the mind fuck of the century. Not sure I that was good or just a big waste of my time.

- is still recovering from Gaspar Noe's extraordinary (and extraordinarily disturbing) ENTER THE VOID, some 12 hours later.
- Enter The Void is THE MOVIE TO SEE at SXSW
- Dear Gaspar Noe, I watched all of ENTER THE VOID and did not have a siezure. I think that means I win.
- "Enter the Void" = wow. There are meditations on sex and death, and then there…
- ENTER THE VOID is technically interesting and dreamlike, but SO EXHAUSTING. Felt like watching Noe search for a point for 3 hours.
- I'm still glad I saw ENTER THE VOID on a big screen, if only for the incredible opening credits, which got a round of applause.
- Loved Enter the Void. Non-linear, self-indulgent, drug-induced bombast.
- "Enter the Void" was the most incredible piece of art I've seen committed to film. It's a difficult 2.5 hours, but it's worth the experience

- The strangest most sensory experience I've had in the cinema. Spellbinding wonderful, Noé is Ophuls on acid.
- Enter the void is an epic movie.
- I loved every minute of Enter the Void and I never, ever EVER want to see it again as long as I live.
- ENTER THE VOID was...strange. Sometimes in a good way. Could lose 30 mins easily. Great visuals, somewhat obvious shock tactics tho.

New reactions to the third Sundance Film Festival screening of Enter the Void (from Twitter & various sources) :

 

- Think I have just seen the craziest movie ever made, 'Enter the Void., Wild, psychodelic, intense, brilliant, harrowing and completely new.
- There's no way to put in words the experience of seeing Enter The Void. An experience to say the least.
- Avatar and Enter the Void were the only films last year that needed to be over two hours. Usually it just means self indulgence.
- How had I not seen Harold & Maude until today? Perfect palate cleanser after Enter the Void.

- - Asked Gaspar Noe how he approaches sound at Enter The Void screening. Said his favorite score is Eraserhead's. Fitting & Awesome.
- ENTER THE VOID: A daring, thrilling, awful & wondrous film..I wandered out afterwards feeling dazzled, dizzy, exhausted, grateful

- Avatar.. lived up to the hype. enjoyed every minute.. but.. Enter the Void still feels the superior film.. my oscar goes to.....

- Ouch. The Enter The Void screening last night was full of nice, though.

- ENTER THE VOID (B-ish) Trippy, trying postmortem fantsia walks the line btw transgression & self-parody. Is Gaspar Noe available to babysit?
- About to experience Gaspar Noe's Enter the Void. Let's see if it lives up to its notoriety.

"IFC Films has acquired US rights to Gaspar Noe’s Enter The Void  ahead of its US premiere at Sundance in the Spotlight section."

 

 19/01/2010 - GASPAR NOÉ WOULD SHOOT HIS "PORNOGRAPHIC MELODRAMA" IN 3-D

From Hollywood Wiretape :

 

"Gaspar Noe, the filmmaker whose movies - including "Irreversible" and its depiction of a brutal rape - have spawned much controversy and a cult fan base, is turning his lens on porn.

The maverick director told Screen at the beginning of the Cannes Film Festival last year that he was hatching a "joyful porn movie - a joyful movie with explicit sex."

Sources now tell Wiretap that Noe's joy of sex, or "pornographic melodrama," will be shot in 3-D.

What is also being referred to as "an apologia for vice" will likely be handled by Noe's longtime collaborators, Wild Bunch.

The director, whose "Enter The Void" ran in competition at the last Cannes, will screen that film in Sundance this month."

"I thought it was big, it was huge. There are moments where for the first time in my life I watched a 3D movie and I didn’t mind the technique, I really enjoyed it. With those Dolby glasses I saw it with, you can move your head around and see everything, the experience was really amazing."
