29/03/2010 - NEW FRENCH POSTER OF GASPAR NOE'S ENTER THE VOID
Several websites (
Excessif,
Allociné) have put online a new French poster of Gaspar Noe's Enter the Void :
22/03/2010 - GASPAR NOE WAS BACK IN TOKYO FOR ENTER THE VOID AND MET
TSUKAMOTO
Back in Japan for the
Festival du Film Français au Japon (
Unifrance), Gaspar Noe was attending at the
screening of
Enter the Void in Roppongi Hills (Toho Cinema). Just before the screening, a large part of the team had gathered in front of the
French Cinema Café,
near the theater. Then, on time, Gaspar presented
Enter the Void and, more particularly, his team.
The director
Koji Wakamatsu (
Quand l’embryon part braconner, 胎児が密猟する時,
Taiji ga mitsuryosuru toki) was here and Gaspar
Noe evoked him as his "idol".
There was no talks after the screening, Gaspar considering the length of
Enter the Void, its "weird" ending and its free interpretation. After the screening (to 3 am), a large
part of the team and some viewers came to the
Red Shoes bar (between Roppongi & Shibuya).

19/03/2010 - SXSW & PARIS SCREENINGS : REACTIONS ABOUT ENTER THE
VOID
Several reactions to the
SXSW & the French avant-premiere (Paris) screenings of
Enter the Void (from Twitter & various sources) :
- I loved Enter the Void but I don't think I'll have the will to watch it in full a second time. It's a druglike experience!
-
Geek culture : First Person Soul
- Enter the Void was...ridiculously bad. I don't care if it looked good, it was terrible. Ugh. 2.5 hours of my life wasted.
- Lets just say Enter The Void, about a junkie's experiences after death haunting his sister wasn't nearly the laugh riot Macgruber was.
- Enter The Void completely raises the cinematic bar. Insane.
- Three words: ENTER THE VOID... This film just blew my mind!
- Enter the Void. Whew. Gonna take awhile to process that...
- Enter the Void. What the fuck.
- Enter the Void. More like enter the mind fuck of the century. Not sure I that was good or just a big waste of my time.
- If 'Enter the Void' shaved 45 min. off its running time, it could have been a brilliant work of art instillation meets narrative film.
- Just got back from "Enter the Void." Gasper Noe's latest is simultaneously a fascinating visual feast and a grueling narrative slog.
- Enter the Void = torture porn - the porn (.5/10) . . . my score for this film continues to approach zero.
- ENTER THE VOID - A long, rambling, self indulgence filled with unlikable characters doing nothing particularly interesting.
- ENTER THE VOID - Visually inventive, occasionally shocking and provoking but by the final money shot I felt worn out, abused & violated.
- is still recovering from Gaspar Noe's extraordinary (and extraordinarily disturbing) ENTER THE VOID, some 12 hours later.
- Enter The Void is THE MOVIE TO SEE at SXSW
- Dear Gaspar Noe, I watched all of ENTER THE VOID and did not have a siezure. I think that means I win.
- "Enter the Void" = wow. There are meditations on sex and death, and then there…
- ENTER THE VOID is technically interesting and dreamlike, but SO EXHAUSTING. Felt like watching Noe search for a point for 3 hours.
- I'm still glad I saw ENTER THE VOID on a big screen, if only for the incredible opening credits, which got a round of applause.
- Loved Enter the Void. Non-linear, self-indulgent, drug-induced bombast.
- "Enter the Void" was the most incredible piece of art I've seen committed to film. It's a difficult 2.5 hours, but it's worth the experience
- ENTER THE VOID is THE worst film I have ever seen
- Ummm...errr..ohh..wait...but...ummm...how???...err...i mean...ummm.. never mind! - my reaction after - watching " Enter the void" :)
- Saw ENTER THE VOID. Didn't love it, didn't hate it. Last 15-20 minutes were strangely beautiful and touching.

28/02/2010 - DUBLIN : REACTIONS ABOUT ENTER THE VOID + HKIFF
Several reactions to the Jameson Dublin International Film Festival (
www.jdiff.com) screening of Enter the Void (from Twitter & various sources) :
- The strangest most sensory experience I've had in the cinema. Spellbinding wonderful, Noé is Ophuls on acid.
- Enter the void is an epic movie.
- I loved every minute of Enter the Void and I never, ever EVER want to see it again as long as I live.
- ENTER THE VOID was...strange. Sometimes in a good way. Could lose 30 mins easily. Great visuals, somewhat obvious shock tactics tho.
- Enter the Void - worth a look.
- Enter The Void. Speechless!
- If Irreversible was a breeze, Enter The Void is a hurricane.
- By the way, the sheer thrilling genius of Gasper Noe's Enter the Void is still reverberating around my head. See it when it comes out.
- Enter the Void is like an updated version of Kubrick's 2001. It may even be better.

31/01/2010 - SUNDANCE : REACTIONS ABOUT ENTER THE VOID (4)
New reactions to the last Sundance Film Festival screening of Enter the Void (from Twitter & various sources) :
- Settling in for Enter the Void, and just noticed 3 hour runtime. The films reputation for unsettling audiences has already taken effect.
- The film Enter The Void explores the idea that when you die you lose all taste and editorial decision making skills. 3hrs of pain.
- "Enter the Void": That did not need to be 157 minutes long, but, fine, I'm in awe of the visuals.
- I survived Enter the Void! It was Lost in Translation meets Trainspotting meets Inland Empire meets every nightmare you've ever had.
- Enter The Void was sick, but in a totally good way. Gaspar Noe is a visual genius.
- Enter the Void- Shot from the POV of a wandering spirit, this "hypnotic" and "edgy" film is actually "boring" and "stupid".
- Souls don't wear glasses, apparently, but the fuzziness added to the dreamy feel. I wish there were more films as original as Enter the Void
- Enter the Void puts the surreality of Tokyo to much better use than Lost in Translation. Most of the film is from the POV of a flying soul.
- Forgot to tell you that Enter the Void was the most insane cinematic experience I have ever encountered. Amazing.
- You know what Sundance film would be perfect for an interactive version on the iPad? "Enter the Void"
- hate/loved "Enter the Void"
- Enter The Void has my new favorite title sequence ever ever ever.
- ENTER THE VOID (Gaspar Noe, 2009), sundance - ***
- Sitting through an entire 2.5 hours at the Sundance Film Festival watching “Enter the Void” — terrible.
- like nothing else i've ever seen!
- Great film, visually and thematically (for the first hour or so...)
- The first 1.5 hours was great. The last hour was the worst thing I've seen on film . . .
- This movie was long, boring, and over the top pornographic.
26/01/2010 - SUNDANCE : REACTIONS ABOUT ENTER THE VOID (3)
New reactions to the third Sundance Film Festival screening of Enter the Void (from Twitter & various sources) :
- Think I have just seen the craziest movie ever made, 'Enter the Void., Wild, psychodelic, intense, brilliant, harrowing and completely new.
- There's no way to put in words the experience of seeing Enter The Void. An experience to say the least.
- Avatar and Enter the Void were the only films last year that needed to be over two hours. Usually it just means self indulgence.
- How had I not seen Harold & Maude until today? Perfect palate cleanser after Enter the Void.
- - Asked Gaspar Noe how he approaches sound at Enter The Void screening. Said his favorite score is Eraserhead's. Fitting & Awesome.
- ENTER THE VOID: A daring, thrilling, awful & wondrous film..I wandered out afterwards feeling dazzled, dizzy, exhausted, grateful
- Avatar.. lived up to the hype. enjoyed every minute.. but.. Enter the Void still feels the superior film.. my oscar goes to.....
24/01/2010 - SUNDANCE : REACTIONS ABOUT ENTER THE VOID (2)
New reactions to the second Sundance Film Festival screening of Enter the Void (from Twitter & various sources) :
- Ouch. The Enter The Void screening last night was full of nice, though.
- Enter the Void should be called Exit the Void, quickly. While it may be right up the alley of those interested in seeing films for shock val
- ENTER THE VOID does immersion 300x better than AVATAR
- I'm loving all the positive word coming in about Enter the Void. Irreversible ruined me. Looking forward to it. Ha.
- [...] cannot stop talking about Enter the Void... still.
- "I can't write in flame. I need a pen. I need to pencil 'Enter the Void' for Monday morning, and some bourbon."
- Vacuous. Gratuitous. Boring. I gave it a good two hours before walking out.
- This is new cinema. This is a new experience. Gaspar Noe is a genius. Hail cinema!
- Technically complex and accomplished but to no end. Avoid the void!!
- Visually stunning and mindblowing. A must see.
- I actually walked out.
- I think the artistry of film could be redeemed by a thirty minute subtraction.
- [...] if you can brace yourself for a 3 hour epic of sexual exploration and intensely disturbing situations - then Enter the Void.
- "Enter the Void" is a must see. Its filmmaking on another plane.
- 100 minutes of good cinema padded with 60 minutes of self-indulgent visual effects and repetitive sexual voyeurism.
23/01/2010 - SUNDANCE : REACTIONS ABOUT GASPAR NOE'S ENTER THE VOID
(1)
Here are some reactions to the first Sundance Film Festival screening of Enter the Void (from Twitter & various sources) :
- ENTER THE VOID (B-ish) Trippy, trying postmortem fantsia walks the line btw transgression & self-parody. Is Gaspar Noe available to babysit?
- About to experience Gaspar Noe's Enter the Void. Let's see if it lives up to its notoriety.
- Phew, long day. Gaspar Noe's Enter the Void is a sensational psychedelic Tokyo mindfuck.
- I am setting up what might be my only Sundance interview, with Gaspar Noe, director of the incredible ENTER THE VOID.
- I feel visually, mentally and emotionally raped by "Enter the Void." Gaspar Noe could've at least bought me dinner first.
- If you can only choose one: Gaspar Noe is the one.
- Shot the Q&A for Enter The Void, heared crowd reaction and saw Crispin Glover leaving - this might be the film I can't miss!
- Enter the Void vai além de "perturbador". Para mim, Gaspar Noé é uma das maiores revelações dos últimos anos.
- I love this film: 'Enter the Void'
- Finished Enter The Void. Lots of people walked out. We didn't. Review will be up soon.
- Just saw "Enter the Void" that shit was the longest, most fckd up movie I've ever seen.
- Enter the void was so great! The haters got heckled as they walk out of the film!
- The first half of 'Enter The Void' is somewhat interesting, it's the last 7 1/2 hours that feel like a real chore.
- Half way thru Enter the Void; shit is going to give me nightmares for the rest of the festival.
- Enter the Void: So much to say. A number of it involving psychosexual encounters, trucks and where are they cutting...
- ENTER THE VOID is marvelous from a technical standpoint, totally effed up from every other standpoint.
- After sleeping on it: "Enter the Void" is a greater technical and visual achievement than "Avatar."
- ENTER THE VOID= Brutal relentless meticulous mad painfully beautiful. And not a film for many.
- The problem with seeing Enter the Void is you can't unsee it. That was a very disturbing film.
- Awesome word permeating about Enter the Void, huh? Woooo
- "Enter the Void" is the single most uncomfortable film I've ever seen. Ever.
- Wow - need therapy session after viewing Enter the Void
- Enter The Void was good with qualifications (such as the fact that it gave me a mild headache)...
20/01/2010 - IFC FILMS HAS ACQUIRED US RIGHTS TO GASPAR NOE'S ENTER THE
VOID
"IFC Films has acquired US rights to Gaspar Noe’s Enter The Void ahead of its US premiere at Sundance in the Spotlight section."
19/01/2010 - GASPAR NOÉ WOULD SHOOT HIS "PORNOGRAPHIC MELODRAMA" IN
3-D
"Gaspar Noe, the filmmaker whose movies - including "Irreversible" and its depiction of a brutal rape - have spawned much controversy and a cult fan base, is turning his lens on
porn.
The maverick director told Screen at the beginning of the Cannes Film
Festival last year that he was hatching a "joyful porn movie - a joyful movie with explicit sex."
Sources now tell Wiretap that Noe's joy of sex, or "pornographic melodrama," will be shot in 3-D.
What is also being referred to as "an apologia for vice" will likely be handled by Noe's longtime collaborators, Wild Bunch.
The director, whose "Enter The Void" ran in competition at the last Cannes, will screen that film in Sundance this month."
10/01/2010 - MANO SOLO IS DEAD
"Mano Solo, born Emmanuel Cabut, was a French singer. He was born in Châlons-sur-Marne on 24 April 1963 to the artist Cabu and Isabelle Monin, co-founder of the ecology-related magazine,
La Gueule ouverte. His first album, La Marmaille Nue ("The Naked Children"), was released in 1993 and sold 100,000 copies in the first year. [...] In 1996, he regrouped with part of the
Chihuahuas for the album Frères Misère (Brothers in Misery)." (from Wikipedia)
Gaspar Noe was the director of "Je n'ai pas" music video and Mano Solo appeared in Noe's Sodomites.
05/01/2010 - GASPAR NOÉ LIKED AVATAR : A VICELAND
INTERVIEW
"I thought it was big, it was huge. There are moments where for the first time in my life I watched a 3D movie and I didn’t mind the technique, I really enjoyed it. With those Dolby
glasses I saw it with, you can move your head around and see everything, the experience was really amazing."
