SCREENED IN MAY 1991

First time he showed a movie in a festival and in Cannes (his previous short, Pulpe Amère didn't go through festivals - most likely because it was seen as too explicit) Gaspar Noé split critics and  audience with Carne, but experienced film festivals and won a few awards. Thanks to a double-feature, he met Jean-Pierre Jeunet and Marc Caro who were screening their Bunker de la dernière rafale while Gaspar Noé screened Carne.

Blandine Lenoir, who performed the Butcher's daughter, was only 15 during the shooting. Gaspar Noé chose her for her movie desire and her will to become a film director. She currently has directed two features: Zouzou (2014) and Aurore (released in France on April, 26th, 2017)
